Scotland is situated in the north of the UK. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh, but the largest city is Glasgow. The official languages of the country are English, Scottish Gaelic and Scots. There are more than 5 million people in Scotland.
The nature in Scotland is really beautiful. There are a lot of spectacular forests, small lakes (lochs) and rivers. One of the most popular lakes is Loch Ness. This lake is very deep and large: its maximum depth is 230 metres and the area is 56 km?.
Why is the lake so popular? – Because a monster called Nessy lives in it! The legend says that Nessy is like a dinosaur. Some people don’t believe it!
Our journalist was in Scotland and he met a woman who had seen the monster and even talked to it! She said that Nessy is not dangerous, but nice and friendly.
Yet Nessy has got a lot of problems. The first problem is that it hasn’t got friends and the second problem is people. You ask why? – Because it can’t appear on the surface of the lake in the daytime. “It has such a difficult life!” – the woman said. – “It wants to swim all day long but because of people it has to sleep all day long! Nessy is very active. But it doesn’t want to communicate with anybody because otherwise people will start using it.”
You are interested why Nessy talked to that woman? – It had saved her!
The woman was in the middle of the lake when her boat ran into something big and the woman fell into the water. Nessy saved her and they started their conversation.
